The overview
In the midst of COVID-19 and climate change crisis, environmental management of all organizations is becoming essential. Unlike the traditional method of judging only the financial performance of a company, from a long-term perspective, ESG (Environment, Social, Governance), which is a non-financial factor that affects corporate value and sustainability, is reflected in making investment decisions.
To promote the value and importance of accreditation and certification internationally, IAF and ILAC celebrate the World Accreditation Day (WAD) together with members, partners, stakeholders, and other organizations in the field of conformity assessment annually.
In 2022, on the 15th anniversary of WAD, the theme, Accreditation: Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment, will raise awareness of the seriousness of the world’s reliance on the natural resources provided by ecosystems but consuming them at an alarming rate.
As such, the social responsibility of companies and investors for sustainable development is expected to be strengthened all over the world, and ISO 14001 is drawing attention as an environmental management system requirement established as an international consensus.
